I happen to be a big fan of Queen Elizabeth. I’m old enough to remember WW2, the bombing of London, the blitz night after night. Many if not most Londoners who had any money at all sent their children to the country to get away from those horrors, but the Royal Family stayed and very young Princess Elizabeth gave talks on the radio discussing the bombing, the horrible tragedy of killings, and urging people to get into shelters. I will never forget her bravery, even when Buckingham Palace was hit by a bomb.
And then her father died and she became a very young queen. Burdens most young women could not have withstood, no matter how rich and famous.

Yes, and if I recall correctly, young Elizabeth served as a vehicle driver and mechanic during the war. Plus she loves horses & horse racing and her toddies, all in her favor to my thinking. For certain she has been a significant and important monarch.

Me, too. She is the classiest lady on the planet. That being said, she still expects the taxpayers to foot the bills for lots of what the Royal Family does. Charles is/will be much worse. But I think William will be a good King. With Kate grounding him in reality, he should be able to change the Monarchy into a palatable Institution for Britain.
