Nielsen said the pyramid took him exactly three years to assemble and weighs 6,360 pounds. He said the pyramid is composed of 93,665 small stacks of 11 pennies. The base of the structure is 65 stacks long and 65 stacks wide.
"The way I built it, I take 11 pennies; I made a little stack, and I just place them on the ground; there is no glue, no adhesives or anything like that, and you just kind of free stack them on top of each other, and I go up consistently," Nielsen told The Arizona Republic.
He said the world record attempt was inspired when a coworker asked if his previous penny pyramid, made from about 47,000 coins, was a world record.

I picked up one at the gas station last night. So I coulda helped him out.
Got a 49-cent ice cream cone at the gas station a couple nights ago. The girl made mine extra-big for my dog (who was riding shotgun - I never let him drive). Besides, that car is a 5-speed and I’m pretty sure his short legs can’t reach the pedals and the shifter.
When I told her I wasn’t going to let him have at mine, she smiled and gave me a cup and a spoon with a bit extra for him.
He and the other dog enjoyed their small bit of vanilla ice cream. Not too much, mind you.
The gas was 16 cents cheaper per gallon than the station 3.7 miles down the road.
If it were legal to melt the pennies and sell as copper they’d be worth $11,346 give or take.
Kinda cool. I prefer quilting, but each to his own.
Ha!
I should also.
Its probably mostly zinc.....
Very cool!
enlarge the photo, old and new pennies...looks cool
Pushing the load limits for that basement slab as well. Pennies don’t distribute weight like blocks.
Cool. Thanks for posting.
It’s not a wall. It’s the boxes stacked on each other that the pennies come in.
Not a topic to make light of.
“Mebee yer a pedophile? lol.”
Now, WHY would you say that?? Would you say the same thing about people who do crossword puzzles, or doodle for the fun of it, or do puzzles of any kind? I see it as a way to relax and chill.
