Absolutely HATED that movie and everything about it.
I can understand why you say that.
Kind of a depressing film, but Ben Johnson earned an Oscar for his part.
I gather Cybil Sheperd shows off a somewhat mediocre rack in there somewhere.
I can’t remember much about that movie either I just remember it was a bunch of liberal crap.
It was filmed in Archer City, Texas. My Father and I were stopped in the traffic while they were filming and we were headed to Possum Kingdom trying to go fishing. We had to sit in traffic for over an hour while they stopped traffic through the town with no detour.
Bogdanovich was one of the early film makers that attacked the family and made normal people the bad guys and bad guys the sympathetic characters. In Last Picture Show, the girl who wouldn't have sex was the bad girl, and the only happy relationship was the high school student screwing the coach's wife.
In Paper Moon, the bad guys were the townspeople who didn't want to get swindled, and the good guys were the swindlers. He was a key director in trying to destroy the norms of American life.
Can’t see anything by Bogdanovich without thinking of his role in the events that led up to Dorothy Stratten’s murder, and also for the fact that he wound up marrying Dorothy’s younger sister after she was dead.
Thanks for the refresher...
I do remember hating the movie and being very disappointed because it had been hyped as some groundbreaking, great movie. I remember I thought it stunk, and probably for the same reasons you stated, and that was before I even knew I was a conservative. I’ve always been fair minded, even as a kid.
