I was this old when I learned that popcorn comes from its own type of plant called popcorn.

Ever drive across Kansas? Do you know what we store in these?
Under proper conditions grain crops can be kept for years.

Farmers in other states, knowing
the price of popcorn is surely
going to increase, would shift
their chosen crops to plant.
I think a smart farmer would be
watching these trends.

Uh oh - the cost of popcorn may do more harm to pocketbooks than the tariffs have so far...

Oh noes! I guess that means it’s going up from $10 to $11 at the movie theater.

Looks like it grew another blower since the first picture was taken.

It must have just ‘popped’ up............

What I hate is when you get just that little piece of skin from the kernel stuck in the back of your throat. Blech!

Good luck getting that unstuck in under 12 hours.

As a 15 year old i worked at showcase cinema in Dedham, MA around 1983.
The popcorn...my buddy Fish made it in a small room upstairs, he packed it in large clear plastic bags.
The secret was this yellow salty powder that came in these half gallon carboard milk carton like containers.
Yum....
what bags didn’t get sold that night got thrown out in the trash or often times tossed in the back of a friends car.

yea....i ate a lot of popcorn in the early 80’s..

Yep, that sounds exactly like the way we did it. We had a room upstairs where our part time popper (a friendly stoner) made it all. I’d hang out with him. He had a ghetto blaster playing classic rock and would pause every once in a while a do a one-hitter of pot and then resume working.

We never tossed the bags of popcorn though. They were usually good for several days.

A few farmers who didn't have flooded fields, got in to plant; the corn is about 3" tall now.

I wonder what the farmers markets will look like this year.

My lettuce is beautiful; the tomatoes and peppers look like dwarfs. {{{sigh}}}

What a strange planting year. Down the road maybe the price of popcorn will outstrip that of caviar.
