Have no idea about the virgin thing, but around where I live, I have noticed that the high school and early college age girls seem to be avoiding the tattoo thing, and, best of all, they are adopting some fashion from the 1980s - the way-over-the-waist jeans for example. It's like going back in time.
Speaking of which, when I was in college in the early 90s, I dated a girl who was 24 and she was worried that I might hear things, so she admitted to me early on that she had what she thought was a high number of previous boyfriends. Her number was 10. I'm willing to bet that the number of the girl in the article is well over 50, and a lot of those were "hookups".

Far fewer than there should be. It should be the norm.

In Alabama I know many young adults like that. And many who have fairly hidden tattoos (i.e. small, located in an unlooked spot like on the ankle, and/or almost the same color as the skin so it's tough to see w/o looking for it). And no debts. And waiting until marriage before getting it on. A minority? Definitely. Unheard of? Nope. And they get to be choosy about who they date and marry because everybody their age wants them.
