The latest edition replaces the designated banker with an intelligent, voice-activated top hat that handles all of the games financial transactions, giving players an outlet for their frustrations, without hurting anyones feelings.
As intelligent voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant have become more common and more capable, there have been a handful of board games that use them as quiz masters, scorekeepers, or even just impartial timers. But since they require players to have access to a smartphone or a smart speaker, limiting their accessibility, and since board games are most often played by children, they also raise privacy issues. So for Monopoly Voice Banking, Hasbro included its own smart assistant that doesnt need access to your wi-fi network.
Players use one of four buttons on the top hat speaker to identify themselves (it cant tell different voices apart on its own) and then make verbal requests like Buy Boardwalk or Build a hotel. All of the financial transactions are handled by Mr. Monopoly electronically.

I made the mistake of giving the chip to Mr. House, and seeing what those things turned into convinced me it was the wrong move.
As an aside, it's pretty amazing, and FUN, what a game of Monopoly can be if the rules are precisely adhered to.
No democrats will purchase this version.

I liked handling the money, when playing.
This parallels the current trends towards less and less use of cash, actual currency and coins, in our everyday financial transactions.
I know some people who almost never use cash. Between credit cards and debit cards, they have no need for coins or greenbacks in their wallet.
This board game, IMO, has taught more people the virtues of capitalism and salesmanship than any public school textbook or teacher combined.
LMAO.
I play with options, free lands, revenue sharing, free passes. I don’t think the AI can handle that.
What? What? Are you saying players shouldn’t get $500 when they land on Free Parking?
OK, color me uninformed... What’s that from?
$500? We used to put any payment that was supposed to go to the bank in the middle of the board... THAT was what we got when landing on Free Parking. Could be a lot more than $500 sometimes - prolonged the game quite often...
A Robocop from Fallout New Vegas.
You were following the rules... I was talking about some of the ‘made up’ stuff that people in different parts of the country used when they bent the rules...
Thanks!
I don’t think that was in the rules... something we had heard.
