No. Humans were already in the Americas thousand of years prior. Recent DNA studies say so - at least 36,000 ago and maybe much further back. Some other group may have used that route but they were late comers.

Beringa was much like the Russian steps today and not a "harsh" climate.

Hyenas are great Democrats. They are viscous, steal food from other predators and gang up on the strong to get their way.
