Wouldn’t that poor squirrel have withdrawals once it was freed into the wild? Seems like a cruel thing to do.

First they need to treat the squirrel for drug withdrawal, then, after it recovered, it can be released or someone can adopt it, who will feed him walnuts, not drugs.
When I was going to college, there were some large trees and squirrels on campus.
I used to take shelled walnuts, called out to the squirrels and they came, even set in my lap and on my shoulder and I was feeding them walnuts. I even have pictures, but not going to post them here.
