Subject: Local pool dispatch

Air Force 1 touched down in Orlando at about 6:16 Tuesday, ahead of President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign kickoff.

The President and First Lady Melania Trump emerged shortly after with a wave to media. They were greeted by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Trump ally, and his wife Casey, as well as hand surgeon Jason Pirozzolo, treasurer of the Orlando airport board.

The motorcade left the airport headed directly to the 20,000-seat Amway Center, where thousands of the president’s supporters had gathered throughout the day. A counter protest was several blocks away.

About 100 waved flags and wore Trump’s trademark red hat at the exit to the airport, and more greeted the motorcade further down the road.

Storms that doused the Orlando area had passed by the time Air Force 1 arrived, creating the rare visual of three U.S. Government planes at one airport: Air Force 1, Air Force 2 and EF-1, the First Lady’s plane.

Although the First Lady arrived on Air Force 1, she would not be joining President Trump in Miami for a fundraiser Wednesday.
