My sis and BIL bought kilts when they went to Ireland/Scotland searching for family heritage/ancestors. THey purchased my BIL family tartan in Scotland
When in Ireland they visited the church our family had attended (all records had burnt in a fire). The rector of church took them to visit an older gentleman who shared family name, Gardner. Jen said when they walked in the both gasped— he could have been my father’s double He explained to them that the Gardners were not people who tilled the soil but men who guarded the royal family. They were known for their massive size, strength and fierceness They are said to have brought the pipes to Ireland. Irish pipes are different than the Scottish war and bag pipes. And much more melodious than the Greek pipes (which I don’t care if I ever hear again— pure noise IMO)
Wonder if Trumps mother had any Gardners in her lineage.
