Mis-managed being the key. For all of its existence so far.. BUT, if China wants to expand & "manage" it, to their end goal, there is a lot of potential. Good for China, not so good for the rest of the world.
Hopefully they end up in a quagmire to China's detriment.
Doubting Thomas story is included in the Bible for a reason.
Chinese slave workers (builders) have been in Africa for decades. Remember reading the number of deaths connected to building tall structures. They have no value to local contractors. Loose a few before payday no pay! No one to complain.
A cruel twist of fate
A richly endowed continent, 3 times the size of the United States, with a fantastic storehouse of natural resources, still largely untapped.
But populated by the largest group of backward, ignorant incompetent people on the planet.
Mismangement?
Fifty years ago Rhodesia was known as the breadbasket of Africa, able to export large amounts of agricultural products.
Then Rhodesia became Zimbabwe.
The farms were confiscated by the government in various ways and turned over to the indigenous population.
Today most of its fabulously productive farms lay in ruins and the nation cannot even feed itself.
Managed like a giant Detroit...
