It is not uncommon for resorts to substitute cheaper alcohol for high priced name brand alcohol. Last visit to Costa Maya I sure has hell knew it was not Jim Beam but it was a decent sour mash of unknown origin.
These resorts have zero want to poison their guests. It will kill their business. These recent deaths are planned. It should also be noted that methanol has frequently been mentioned. Methanol will cause great gastric distress, blindness and death due to liver failure. This is not quick and takes days. These people died quickly. This was not methanol but a deliberate poisoning by at this time a unknown substance

A similar thing happened to my sister on her Def Leppard cruise last year.
I think I’ll pass on cruise ships until they train the staff in correct foodsafe practices!

Lot's of nice tropical places here in the USA. Florida, Hawaii, even Savannah, GA - at least from March to November.
OK, Bermuda and Bahamas are mighty fine too. But Dominican Republic? Why?
