Fast-food chain Whataburger beloved by generations of folks living in the Southeast is now the property of a Chicago investment firm.
Huh?! Whataburger is a southWEST chain. It extends to Alabama, barely exists in Georgia (1) and is not found at all in North Carolina, South Carolina or Tennessee. It rules Texas (600+), but is all over Arizona (which unfortunately is dominated by Jack-in-the-Box). Florida is southeast, but Florida has always been its own thing. Most of the units in the southeast are newer. GENERATIONS have loved in Texas and Arizona. (50+ years)
Whataburger is a substantial, good go-to burger, and is southWEST the way Culver's is upper MidWest and In-n-Out is California.

We have one in Niceville Florida and I love their fries, but I can’t taste their meat.

Gainesville FL has or had, both.

When I moved from Ft Worth to No Fl, I am happy to say Whataburger came with me! I LOVE Whataburger. My wife said where do you want to go for Father’s Day. I responded: do you need to ask!!

“Culver’s is upper MidWest”
Culvers opened up a store in NC. Should have kept it in the midwest.
