That price is impressive - there are a few generations who would not recognize Babe Ruth’s name anymore, and baseball continues to plummet in popularity (along with pro football). The next time that jersey goes on auction, I’d guess it will sell for less.
There is some thought that a lot of MLB memorabilia is going to come on the market because the recent changes in MLB are going to lead to the surpassing of long-standing offensive records and such memorabilia from previous eras are going to be worth less.
Babe Ruth memorabilia may be an exception.
