So Putin says he has a video of Biden molesting multiple children. Should Trump accept the video ?

I think it’s pretty obvious why he said this. As some have already pointed out, the question about notifying the FBI was in context of his son’s meeting.

So Trump Sr was put in a box. If he said one should contact the FBI in such a case then his son is implicated. So he said such a hypothetical person didn’t have to, again, in the context of the question.

He later goes on to say that 3 years ago there was no reason to report it to the FBI, because that was before all this crap happened with Russian “interference”. So Russia, as a potential enemy to the US, when it came to a few Russian oligarchs at least with no official ties to the Russian government, no one was thinking of them as a “threat”, at least not in the general public. The FBI may have had such an opinion of such people but not your average US citizen. Remember these are people who themselves never claimed to be from the Russian government, just that they had potentially damaging info on Hillary from the Russian government, not that they themselves were Russian operatives or in any way associated with the Russian government or wanted to bring down the USA. They were just offering info on a political opponent.

So that’s the context of the question and even now, given all those factors there still wouldn’t be a legal obligation to contact the FBI if such an offer is made. Why? Same as back then, because it’s just information on a political opponent it’s either true or false on its own merits. It doesn’t somehow become damaging just because the Russians (or whoever) provide it. It’s either the truth or not, and thus either damaging or not on that basis. And on top of that, only damaging (or not) to a political candidate. Not the US government!

I’ll repeat the same point I’ve made 3 years ago when this entire mess started: who’s afraid of truth? Why is the truth about a political opponent so “evil” if such factual, truthful information comes from Russian sources? Or Chinese? Or whoever? The TRUTH is the TRUTH, no matter who reveals it!

This entire insanity is actually based on a logical fallacy called the “Genetic Fallacy” which attempts to discredit a claim merely based on its source. It goes something like “Hitler said 2+2=4, Hitler was evil, therefore 2+2 does not equal 4”.

The same claim is being made here about any potential source of “dirt” on a political opponent. “We can’t let Russia or any other enemy of the US give one political candidate info on another, because they are evil!” This automatically disqualifies the info JUST BECAUSE IT COMES FROM A SOURCE CONSIDERED “BAD”. This is classic Genetic Fallacy.

And no one, not even Rush or Hannity or whoever no one is pointing out this fact, which is perhaps the most exasperating.

Truth is truth no matter the source! Only cockroaches hate the light of truth, and use anything, even fallacies of logic to support their fight against it.

If Russians can hack into the DNC they could obviously post a comment on a web site or mail a letter to a newspaper or voter.

If Biden doesn’t want his family facts exposed by foreigners he best do it himself.

The foreign governments buying our political families are the best informed sources of information on the shameful practice.
