I wear two Phonak Bolero Q, M13, behind the ear with an ear mold.
I wanted the best performance, without concern for appearance. Yes, they make little tiny ones that are mostly concealed in the ear.
I have been wearing them for years, no problems and have them reprogramed every other year. There are newer models that replaced this one.
I also have the complete ensemble, Bluetooth adapter, TV adapter, and remoter speaker rig(A small Mic that transmits directly into my aids,100ft range good for lectures and large meetings, just remember to bring it home).
The pair before were Oticon Scynros, very good and maybe better at noise canceling, but not waterproof.
That said, my audiologist matches my hearing profile with a handful of aids for me to review the feature set, and select.
The key is finding a trustworthy audiologist.
That is willing to take some time to dial them in, I have to take notes about the performance I’m looking for and she programs them.
Mine are optimized for speech with three settings, normal, loud and car with windows down. At the push of a button on the aid. Many settings available, but I wanted it simple.
They told me right up front that if not set up perfectly, many aids are placed in a drawer and NEVER USED.
A good friend went for aids and his insurance recommended a place in a far off suburb. I said you will be going back and forth.
They told him one or two adjustments, and he would be good to go. Less than a year and into the drawer.
I use Easterseals in the Chicago suburbs and I think they are great!
