I had that problem because no matter where I put the staff the squirrels would eat the plastic off the feeder. So I went to Ace and bought a funnel and placed it on my staff. It moves when you touch it so if a squirrel touches it he can't get traction to climb it. Its a must for a feeder.

It reminds me of the movie.."My Cousin Vinny"....when she talks about in the south and cars getting into mud..and they need positive traction...lol

Actually, The Forest Service has asked us to bring in our feeders at night so the bears aren’t attracted.

Wish my neighbor would listen.
