I was living 5 min. from Central Park when this happened. My best friend at the time was a blonde marathon runner. She used to run up that hill in Harlem all the time. I thought she was nuts. Could have easily been her. The media was all over this like Duke Lacrosse.

Filmmaker Ava DuVernay’s new Netflix series, When They See Us, is being billed as an important exposé of the American criminal-justice system's racist underbelly...and in another step to help expose the American public to this propaganda, Ava is now the co-host of TCM's weekly Saturday night "Essentials" program, as that channel's lurch to the left accelerates even more - I am beginning to wonder if the classic old movies they claim to screen uncut and unedited actually might not be occasionally sliced up a bit to make sure the public doesn't get a chance to see endorsements for old-time values the movies loved but that make the left uncomfortable.....

I am so glad to read these details, because I have found the charges leveled against Donald Trump in relation to this case troubling, in light of the MSM’s false promotion of the innocence of these felons. Until you are surrounded by feral teenagers, you shouldn’t offer an opinion on NYC crime circa the 80s.

I was surrounded by about seven of them in Norfolk VA once. I had to get very aggressive, and fortunately most of them were only around 9 or 10 and backed off, but I was shocked at how feral they acted. After that I carried a knife.

Robert Morganthau was DA for 35 years. I knew his daughter thru her work on Fresh Air Fund. IMO No way that man would have had this relooked at unless they thought they found the rapist thrU DNA and his admission and knowledge of the crime. I believe the right man is in prison.

The movies are shown uncut and unedited and that’s all that counts...maybe - but a big part of the fun at TCM for me was always the backstory commentary on the films - Robert Osborne loved movies and immersed himself in the culture most of his life - his comments on what was being shown were always informative and usually fascinating - I'd often tune in just to hear his introduction to an upcoming film, then move on to something else if it were something I'd already seen - with Mankiewitz, not so much - for instance, he often goes out of his way to take a dig at the HUAC which tried to expose communist influence in the motion picture industry and to sympathize with those players who were blacklisted in Hollywood after the hearings - I doubt that, from him at least, we'll ever hear the full story of how most of those caught up with the committee were actually communists and how their party loyalty affected what went into their films to the extent that they suddenly went pacifist when Hitler formed his mutual support pact with Stalin in 1939, then back to full bore support of the US war effort when Hitler broke the pact in 1941. Ava's spot as co-host on "The Essentials" gives her a certain status and authority which probably helps legitimize her film series on the Central Park 5 - the audience will probably never hear that the film is thought by many to be a whitewash of the involvement of the "murderous thugs" who were held responsible - some of the enjoyment goes out of watching films for me when I suspect they're serving as vehicles in some way for somebody's political agenda, particularly when I don't like the agenda.......
