Pennsylvania has seen more tornadoes than usual in 2019, with the state already hitting the yearly average.
One Pennsylvania man thinks he may know the cause of the increase: traffic circles.
According to our news partners at the Trib, WNEP-TV in Scranton has a segment called "TalkBack," which allows viewers to call and leave their opinions, and then the station airs them.
We didnt have tornadoes here until we started putting in the traffic circles. Cause, on account of you want to know why? When people go round and round in circles, it causes disturbance in the atmosphere, and causes tornadoes," one man said about the recent uptick in tornadoes.

We have just started having “roundabouts” in Omaha, NE in the past 10-15 years. We have had tornadoes pretty much FOREVER. So I fail to see the link, but at least he is not suggesting that they are due to global warming or climate change.

ahh....the art of the crank call. And here I thought it had died with the advent of Caller ID technology.
Then maybe we should convert the roundabouts to two-way traffic... clockwise vehicles will cancel the disturbance caued by those traveling counter-clockwise. /s
Clearly interstates cause straight-line winds.
Traffic coming down from Canada causes hail and bad weather.
Traffic coming up from Mexico causes heat waves.
Traffic jams cause weather systems to stall.
This should be incorporated into the Green New Deal.
That can’t be. The real cause is Nascar!
And jughandles lead to drunk driving.
Pot holes increase marijuana usage.
Speed bumps cause Meth addictions
so either reuse catheters or make them out of metal.
Agggh wrong thread. Cathers= Canadians banning single use plastics.
I always knew those roundabouts would be nothing but trouble.
They can add those to trailer parks as causes of tornadoes. All those long boxes lined up row after row cause a parabolic wing distortion event that results in unequal torsional wind flow in diametrically opposite directions. End result is quantum ridge dispersion of temperamental pressure inequality,
and bam, you have a tornado......
The obvious solution when a tornado is near is to take your car out to a traffic circle...and GO IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. This will stop all tornadoes within 10 miles. ALL LIBs should do this!
I’d like to meet the designer of the “mini” traffic circles we have here in Atlanta, it’d be worth the time to ream his/her a$$ out for not understanding that putting in a traffic circle with a 10’ radius is a major pain in the arse!!!
Cause it sure sounds like they're related.
‘Penny Lane’
In NJ we have jughandles, and fewer tornadoes.
The NJ jughandles definitely has an effect on the tornados as they can’t figure out how to make a left turn so they end up missing all the trailer parks.
That makes as much sense as man made global warming, there should be a gummint grant for this genius.
It's the round and round part that convinced me.
