I now live very near a large sanctuary city and the sad thing is, the Mexican restaurants are all lousy. With all the Hispanics living here, you’d think they’d figure out a way to have some good eating, but I guess not.

When I lived in the Detroit suburbs, there was a small chain, maybe four locations called El Charro. They simply set the bar too high.

We moved away ten years ago and whenever we go home, El Charro is always a destination. (I’ll be there around July 4 for dinner)

Similarly, here in LA (that's Lower Alabama, for those of you in Rio Linda, lol) there is a small chain restaurant called Los Tacos (3-4 locations or so); it's not fancy, but makes the best Mexican food around, far better than the 'classier' Mexican restaurants around here like El Rancho, Don Carlos' or The Poor Mexican. You know it's the best because it is full of Mexican laborers every day for lunch. Love the tamales and chili rellenos!

We always go to SW Detroit when we want great Mexican. Do they have a location there or are they all located in the northern and east side burbs?
