Another lost hiker. Good thing these lost folk weren't our Westward Ho ancestors.

Good thing these lost folk weren't our Westward Ho ancestors.Supposedly Daniel Boone was asked if he had ever been lost.
He supposedly responded, no, but I've been a might bewildered for a couple of weeks or so.

Darwin called but was thwarted by technology.

The ridgelines run pretty much E-W and at most you are not much more than 4 miles from a road. It took special talent to get lost in there. I know the country pretty well. The forest isn’t all that dense or remote.
Natural selection has been defeated by technology again.

I’m still incredulous. I read a bit more. His sister said the rescuers walked 21 miles to reach him. I don’t see how that is possible. The longest trail in the block is only 5.8 miles long. Did he fall, was he injured, did gnomes get him, was he on drugs?

A PLB runs around $260 - if he had one he would NEVER have been lost

All hikers need to be required to have a similar device such as a
Garmin inReach Explorer+ 2-Way Satellite Communicator.

I know that area well
Nowhere in that wilderness area where its more than 30 miles from a road
And what about following a water source downstream
Its been cloudy recently which likely hurt orientation
But still

Arkansas better up their game. New Mexico climate and topography usually kills lost Texans in a day or two.

always walk downhill and always follow water downstream, it's not rocket science
