X-Men: Dark Phoenix is on track to have the worst opening in the history of the franchise. The movie collected just $14 million on Friday, making it the lowest debut ever for an X-Men movie, reports Variety on Saturday. The Simon Kinberg-directed Phoenix, which cost $200 million to make, was initially projected to gross $5060 million with the studio expecting a $4050 million debut.

Outside of two Marvel movies, this has been a terrible year at the box office.
Any idea if there is a Pop Culture ping list?
I was looking forward to this movie, until I saw the previews. Very meh. Ill skip it. Ive actually enjoyed the latest X-Men movies, including Apocalypse. Last Stand has its moments, but if this movie is truly worse it isnt worth it.
Sansa / Sophie Turner didn’t help by moral peacocking “I don’t want to work where abortion is illegal” right before the opening.
The irony is that the Game of Thrones was shot in part in northern Ireland where abortion was illegal.
I scroll through the movie previews and there is less and less that are remotely interesting. Hollywood is forgetting how to have fun. They are so wrapped up in their Orange Man Bad anger.
“Logan” was powerful because it was:
* a farewell of a strong actor/character
* a tragedy in the ending, making it different and emotional
* unusual for showing the heroes mostly losing, because most are dead and the namesake DIES on the hope of saving the kids
There’s something blankly unpleasant about her face, isn’t there?
Die, Hollywood, Die!
Including the "Swamp Thing"??
I asked my 16 year old son about it. He said that this one didn’t interest him at all. He likes these kind of movies, but he said that the X-Men franchise is basically a crap sandwich ever since the second one
I confess
I never watch superhero comic book movies
Never
Not even in the 70s with Christopher Reeves and Gene Hackman and Margot Kidder
I think I saw the Michael Keaton Batman and some of Heath Ledger as the bad guy in another one
It just doesnt appeal to me but seems to appeal to younger men who are less masculine
Almost like lore has replaced reality ditto the rise of tough guy video games with 40 year old men filming themselves playing video games and posting it on YouTube and getting 100,000s of subscribers
When I was a boy nerds were more super hero comic book prone
Its just not my thing
You should check out hot chicks in bikinis fishing on YouTube
Its amazing.....a dozen girls have channels on there where thats precisely what they do and oddly some actually do fish and fish well...sailfish etc
Its damned entertaining I cannot lie and they are funny as hell landing a black marlin off Venice Louisiana in a thong.....now thats a skill
Its mostly southern 20 and 30 somethings although one 52 year old very fit I think Carolina woman has a similar channel..shes amazing
An some of the boys with them are actually masculine sorts which is inspiring in this age
Jennifer Lawrence is in it so more then half the potential audience is sitting this out due to her comments.
