‘When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.’: GK Chesterston

It seems lots of people are their own self styled spiritual guru nowadays, preferring to believe anything but their Bible and worshipping anything but the one true God. It used to be that Christians would say “ Well at least they are into religion and/or spirituality” : How has that worked out?

“... the stars predicted that Ocasio-Cortez’s ‘career in politics is likely to last the rest of her life.’”

Beats working for a living.

I had an old friend (a steady churchgoer BTW) announce that the other day that he doesn't believe in hell.

I said to him "do you think that in any reduces the odds that hell exists?"

He gave me a blank stare.

I said, "let me add for emphasis, hell--the old Christian kind--either exists or it does not. Do you honestly think your belief or opinion on the matter makes one tiny bit of difference?"

I left him with the old Pascal's Wager dilemma.

"If you house insured? Is your car insured?"

"Aren't you taking a massive (unmeasurable actually) risk by not insuring yourself?"

Hell either exists or it doesn't. Jesus is either real or He isn't.

Eternity (i.e. time after death) is not in dispute.

I am amazed that people can and do make rational decisions about the odds of something befalling their house or car, but completely lose their capacity for rational thought when it concerns themselves.

>>Meanwhile, Lipp-Bonewits told The Cut’s Madeleine Aggeler that the stars predicted that Ocasio-Cortez’s “career in politics is likely to last the rest of her life.”

If she perishes in a car crash next week, that prediction still would ring true.

I always scoff anyone who approached me with a question about my astrological sign (unless she was really hot).

“What sign was I born under? Slippery When Wet “. Was one of my common answers.
Never understood how leftists who proclaim themselves atheists could then turn around and pedal this BS.

Ever notice how everyone these days is a religious expert? Everyone has competence to form and hold (and hold forth on) opinions, regardless of intelligence, education, or even the most elementary logical coherence. Everyone decides for himself what to believe, or embraces what some huckster is selling, and we’re supposed to respect that. No one seems to get that this metaphysical free-for-all is historically very recent, with no basis whatever on thousands of years of human history. It strikes me as largely a fruit of Protestantism as lived in America, where everyone is his own pope.

Progressives have rejected rationalism and the scientific method as well as Christian morality. What did anyone think was going to take the place of those pillars of Western Civilization?

The Left is willing to believe anything but the Truth.
