Probably the greatest "stand and deliver" moment in sports history.
I was a huge Warrior fan back in my Bay Area days, but I can't develop any affinity for this team. The best that can be said of them is that they do play actual basketball more often than most of the league. The Warriors stars are unlikable and mouth politically correct platitudes on command.
But I now live in Phoenix, where the NBA isn't much more than a rumor. :)
I was at the Carter game. In spectator sports it doesnt get any better than that. After that moment I remember walking down to field level (I was in the cheap seats $30 for the upper deck ones back then) and seeing a Phillies clad fan I said well you dont see that every day.
You’re post made me do a search and the usual video is on there if one ever wants to relive that moment but I also found this article which is a wonderful read and reveals so much more of each players thinking of the situation and everything that lead up to it. Carter’s thoughts especially but also the cast of players. It’s worth reading because it offers wonderful human insights. Molitor talking to his daughter after and many other great moments. Thanks for leading me to this and yes I was one of the Joe’s 350,000 who were there. :)
