The last frenetic, quirk video from Vlad's "Theater of Orpheus" collection. What to say about this piece? The most remarkable thing I find is the last picture of a portrait of Orpheus with his eye turned back. I never caught this before and it tells me that Orpheus is frozen in time, always looking back. This is what lovers do -- pine and look backwards. A tragic fate almost like the character Miss Havisham in Dicken's novel or Lot's wife who looked back and turned into a pillar of salt in the Bible. This is a sin and it denies life and the future. Romantic people are prone to this miasmic and static sadness: musicians & lovers. In this case "Russian Orpheus" is looking back at the greatness of a Christian Russia.
