“Reaches down and turns Autopilot Flight Control System(AFCS) switch - OFF“

Switch was probably already off. I’ve heard the Able Danger dude (can’t remember his name) talking about the ability to take over a Boeing remotely rendering the pilot’s fly-by-wire control inputs null.

That helo uses direct link hydraulics for its flight controls. It isn't fly by wire. The AFCS system is electronic and 'smooths' inputs, but it is electrically powered. It can be turned on and off by the pilot if the inputs it provides aren't helpful. It also has a circuit breaker that can be pulled. 'AFCS bad' emergency procedures are practiced. All good pilots practice flying with these systems OFF for this reason.

Same with the 737 Max.
