A five-generation bakery near Oberlin College apprehended an Oberlin student who was shoplifting while black. Oberlin supported a boycott against the bakery on the grounds that the bakery was "racist". The culprit was convicted and the bakery sued Oberlin, winning to the tune of $11 million, plus a possible $22M in punitive damages. The icing on the cake (pun intended): Oberlin's insurance company is taking no responsibility for the damages, saying that Oberlin intentionally and baselessly libeled the bakery.
