Jane was from Edinburgh, Angela was
from Glasgow.

Their accents were as unalike as
you could get and still speak the
same language. Jane’s accent was hot;
Angel’s was not.

A lilting Edinburgh accent is a delight. A cute little blonde tour guide at the Glen Livet distillery once nearly made me fall in love. The Scots accent and dialect from Glasgow is unintelligible to most English speakers. The TV comedy Rab C. Nesbitt is an excellent example. It's gut bustingly funny, but should have English subtitles.
