Sometimes by accident, child molesters and murderers get put into the general population, and the “dregs” of society save the tax payers money.

I appreciate what you are saying, and believe me I don’t cry in my beer over such things. But you know, were this guy to get offed in prison it wouldn’t be because he killed that poor woman, it would be solely because he was a cop.
I followed this case and trial via Powerline blog where one of the guys did yoeman’s work covering it. I have to say that in the end I think the guy just screwed up, majorly and illegally, but I do not think he acted with malice aforethought.
