An alligator was captured in Pittsburgh's Beechview neighborhood Thursday night.
The animal was taken to the Humane Animal Rescue in Homewood.
CEO of the shelter, Dan Rossi, said the animal is not happy and is stressed out.
Rossi said officials are not sure yet if the alligator was male or female. He added the five-foot long reptile was a potential danger in the Beechview neighborhood.
He said if people can no longer care for their exotic pets, call their helpline at 412-345-7300.
This is the second alligator captured in Pittsburgh in less than a month.
Another one was found in a South Side park. Rossi said that animal was also being housed at the shelter, and will eventually head to a sanctuary in Florida.
Last month, I went to a huge community yard sale in Washington County PA. When I stopped at one sale, a vendor asked me if I wanted to look at the baby alligator.
“The what?” I asked.
“The baby alligator. I’ve got’em in a cage; he’s for sale. Wanna look?”
I was curious so I said yes, but when he attempted to take it out for me to pet, I demurred.
I could not believe they were selling that thing. It may be cute now, but what happens when it grows up? They turn it loose and the police have to corral it like they did with the gator in this story.
You are so insensitive toward other species’ needs and desires -— who they are and who they love.
interior crocodile alligator, I drive a Chevrolet movie theater...?
LOL!
Global warming??? Pittsburgh is even colder than New York City!
I once saw a baby alligator in a cage for sale at a pet shop in Dormont.
And you thought a gator’s life couldn’t get any worse than Beechview.
Shelter Worker #1 to worker #2 "We need to record it's sex, roll it over and check."
Shelter Worker #2 "Not me, YOU roll it over."
Shelter Supervisor "What's the problem here ?" "Oh for heaven's sake, move aside and just let me flip it over and ...... oh my, it almost took my arm off!"
Shelter Worker #1 "Maybe we can prop open both bathroom doors and wait to see which one it crawls into."
Shelter Supervisor "That won't work because of the new transgender bathroom use rules."
Shelter Worker #2 "How about we grab it's tail and twist until it gets flipped over?"
Shelter Supervisor "That won't work because if it's a female, we could be destroyed by the Feminists under the 'touch me and I'll break you ' #MeToo rules."
Shelter Worker #1 "Hmmm, what we need is a more dangerous and ancient swamp creature to force it to submit and roll over."
Shelter Worker #2 "Wait, I know, a Congressman, like Schiff!"
Shelter Worker #1 "Yea, or someone from the Media, like Maddow!"
Shelter Supervisor "No, no, how about Hillary!"
(Lively shouting ensues between all three) "Biden!" "Lemon!" "Sanders!" ......
(Unnoticed, the alligator, bored, rolls over slowly two or three times, tries to get to the dogs, cats and other animals in the shelter and, giving up, shuffles out the back door when it is opened by an unsuspecting worker delivering some stray animals.)
I believe the teenagers would summarize that as, “Why do you hate reptiles?”
“will eventually head to a sanctuary in Florida.”
Send it to The Villages so it can be around other Yankees.
Yea I imagine. just look at all the gators in New York City sewers.
I've always wondered how the how the NYC alligators got there. I mean to get to Pittsburgh all they have to do is head up the Mississippi and turn right at Cairo. But New York is more of a challenge. :)

We're Bad, We're Nationwide!
Put him on bus bound for where the “ole gators play” and he’ll be happy!
Where the girls are the fairest, the boys are the squarest.
yes and he will be very very happy in the swamp.
I’m surprised the enemedia didn’t twist this story with a line like:
“Animal rights groups are blaming President Trump for the alligator’s northward presence due to his constant rhetoric of calling Washington DC a, “Swamp.””
