Nearly one million tickets have been sold for the Womens World Cup before the start of the tournament on Friday, organisers say.
In the biggest and Fifa, footballs governing body, hopes the best Womens World Cup yet, France play South Korea at the Parc des Princes in the first of 52 games.
The host nation hopes to emulate the success of the mens team in Russia last year and make history by becoming first country to hold both World Cups at the same time. Among the 24 teams taking part, France are narrow favourites to win the tournament, just ahead of the holders, the USA.

See my post #55.
I agree with your analysis. Dunn gives them an offensive weapon from the back, but they become vulnerable to a counterattack when Dunn comes forward.
European teams are reaching parity with the US and their club football leagues are high quality. France has to be the favorite. I still think Australia could be the surprise of the tournament. They were impressive against the US. And you know that Japan will be in the mix given their organization and technical skills. England and Germany are very strong and capable of winning it all.
I agree with you that the US is not tested by CONCACAF competition. And the US should go thru easily to the knockout round. But after that it is a crap shoot. Our lack of experience at the back line will be our undoing I fear. It promises to be a great tournament.
Agree Lloyd should be used strategically. Bringing her in the second half gives the team a needed lift. She is as tough as nails.
Our under 20 mens team has been impressive. Hopefully, they get by Ecuador in the quarters tomorrow. The US comeback victory over France showed their grit and determination. Impressive. There is some real talent that should bolster the National Team in the future. Many are competing in Europe, which should bode well in developing their potential.
They’ll need a better coach then when they join the USMNT.
Tough as nails and because I follow both Lloyd and Trump on Twitter, I can see that Lloyd also follows Trump.

“We have been given the best possible training in this short period about how to use VAR technology,” said German referee Riem Hussein. “Im not worried about it; on the contrary, its reassuring to know that there is now someone who can protect you from potentially making big mistakes even though I obviously hope that Im better than the technology and wont need to use VAR.”

Seriously, what I would do if I ran US Soccer is to designate that US U20 as the National Team, players and coaches all. Let them play together as a unit for a few years before the WC. I think it would work. Sure there would be some growing pains, but over time they would definitely improve.
It’s about building the best TEAM, not trying to figure out who the best players are.
You can’t spell team without tea.
VAR sucks. Use it for goal reviews, but that’s it.

I love out of the box thinking and think it’s a great idea also. Of course we’re talking US soccer here, so,in other words, there is not a prayer of it happening.
In the past the home team of the WC could count on getting some biased calls but now VAR looks to have changed that.
France is ROCKING The Casbah
Halftime France 3-0 S.Korea
Excellent opener for France.
S.Korea Must have came in with Löw expectation.
