Galileo discovered the four moons of Jupiter with a telescope with about 4x magnification and a rather small lens. The trick to seeing the Galilean moons is to be able to hold the binoculars steady. Jupiter will likely be the brightest thing in the night sky except for the moon. It won’t twinkle and it will be a warm white.
