Simply cannot understand people voluntarily giving up their DNA and expecting government to NOT get its hands on it and use however it sees fit.
I bet there are a lot of murderers who thought they got away with it over the last couple of decades who are shi***g their pants over these stories. Good.
There are two sides of this coin. On one hand, it’s creepy as all hell that people are being found, not just by their own DNA, but by the submissions of relatives, and who knows where this can lead. On the other side, it’s bittersweet justice. Whoever would have thought that something done 4 decades ago could come back to haunt these very bad people in such a way, and even if they aren’t out to harm anyone anymore, they still got it coming. No pity for them being elderly when they face justice either. How much mercy did they show to the innocents they harmed?
So, we've got good news and bad news...
So this is two in the past week.
Fighting here to keep my fingers from putting down what my mind is thinking......wouldn’t take much guessing to figure out what.........grrrrrr
Very poorly written article. Her body was not found the day after he was arrested.
Canadian! Meh.
The murderer has to leave the DNA sample somewhere in the scene or on the victim. That may be semen, a tossed cigarette butt, a tossed drink can or bottle, etc.
Simply having a relative submit their DNA will not result in a match without DNA from the crime to match it against.
Besides, I don’t care if they match my DNA against a relative, however close, who has murdered someone. Son, daughter, sibling, cousin; if they murdered someone then they need to be brought to justice, period.
The only time it “might” be a problem is if you have an identical twin who committed the crime and even then the DNA might well have identifiable differences but that would be a statistically low probability.
Good. Glad he was caught. They really need to expedite trials and the start of punishment for such criminals who get tracked down many years after their crimes. It is vital that they get as much punishment as possible before a natural death takes them.
So if one has a neer-do-well brother, pne should avoid genealogical dna? Would seem so. Essentially, you’d have to prove a negative.
DNA scandal in California under Kamala Harris:
Unprocessed DNA/ID rape kits in California while Kamala Harris was the state AG!
Kamala Harris protected a lot rapists while serving as Californias AG!
If she had done her job as our state AG, there would not be hundreds if not thousands of DNA/ID rape Kits not processed due to quote lack of funding.
Maybe some females in California and the nation can bring this scandal forward after Kamala conveniently forgot about them.

For someone whos taken an oath to uphold, support, and defend the Constitution throughout her professional career, 2020 Democratic presidential contender Sen. Kamala Harris tends to, in the words of constitutionalist and talk host Mark Levin, treat it like a smorgasbord, picking the parts she likes and ignoring the parts she doesnt.
Like not funding to process/id maybe thousands of Rape Kits in California while serving as the states highest ranking law enforcement person, the state’s former AG, Kamala!
I wonder how long this is going to take.
Guy and Gal have a one night stand and never see each other again.
Gal ends up pregnant.
25 years later, guy is located and he has to pay back all those years of “child support”, plus interest.
Heck, maybe its happened already.
Just your average everyday dumbass...
Back in the 1950’s, a genealogy search on my maternal GrandDad’s family was mailed to him by a brother.
It traced his ancestry back to England and many generations of his offspring down this Grand Dad and his brothers and sisters.
One of my cousins got interested and typed out copies for himself and a few of us. I put my copy into a file, which I kept. Years later he really got into genealogy, and he told a niece of our granddad about how interested he was getting into it. Our mutual older female cousin, our granddad’s niece warned him about finding ancestors who were horse thieves or worse.
Apparently, he found some of the worse on his Dad’s side nor his mother’s side/my side.
She apparently knew what was in his dad’s background and subtlety tried to warn her younger cousin.
Well, this sounds like a great idea - find killers!
Well it won’t he such a great idea when you are denied life insurance, or health insurance, or denied certain kinds of medical treatment because of the probability of success, or forced to abort a baby, or put out on an iceberg when you are old because your genetic mortality doesn’t match up with the preferred statistic of the month.
Or if you are genetically predisposed to be a conservative.
Wow. So we have to be worried if we murdered someone or committed a horrible crime in the past. Now if I could only remember everything I have done in the past. Lol. Heck, have forgotten what I did living in entire states. Lived for a state in the Pac NW USA and have absolutely no memory of it. Of course I was just a kid. So should be fine.
