Seaver didn't trademark it, because the cartoon character has already trademarked it, and because Tom Seaver was just a great pitcher, one of the greatest, not a marketing machine.

Mark Fidrych was the "Bird". Ron Cey is "The Penguin". There are many better athletes than both men, but the names are already taken.

Brady has earned the title of G.O.A.T., and it will be a long time, possibly never, before someone can lay claim to that.
