I meant to say this in yesterday’s thread (about the other couple), but didn’t.
There are a lot of (ahem) mature people on FR. This bug that’s going around is a killer. Given the hype and hysteria we’ve seen over the last several years for other things (SARS, bird flu, etc), I’m surprised (or maybe not) that we’re not hearing the same hype over this.
But seriously. Don’t mess with this stuff. It will kill you, and even if it doesn’t, you will take months to recover. I’ve lost a family member to this, and nearly lost a couple of older friends, and a few co-workers.
One of those friends still hasn’t fully recovered, and probably never will.

Very sorry about your loss, had one last week myself. Could you possibly fill us in on what “this bug” and “this stuff” is, in terms of viral, bacterial, or other identification, so we might be more knowledgeable about this serious threat in our midst?
