I did and I did. The new thing I learned was that with the ability of a Zero to get to fifteen thousand feet in minutes, the sacrifice of the air groups that brought the CAP down too low, was not a decisive factor. Moreso were the two attacks that ‘bought time,’ meaning they delayed the IJN’s ability by about forty minutes to launch a counterstrike, allowing the dive bombers to get there first.

Until I saw that presentation and thought about the various attacks that were unsuccessful with tremendous loss of our aircraft and life but these coming in succession delayed the ability of the Japs to spot the deck.

With the maneuvering and such and time it took to bring up the AC they were sitting ducks when the dive bombers finally arrived.

Thus, the sacrifice, especially Torpedo Six was not in vain.

Strange how history is shaped but in five minutes the war started to turn.
