You can. It is put in a national trust with you as the beneficiary. I wouldn’t trust them and there are ways around it but you can buy it.
We have a friend who has dual citizenship and many years ago we were thinking about retiring down by Manzanillo. He was going to buy it for us and do a completely legal 99 year lease with us. That way the kid could inherit the lease.

I thought you had to be co-owner with a Mexican citizen
