I worked for a company who was doing work for HESS oil company.

Under no circumstances were you to carry a firearm on their property.
If they found out you were carrying a round in your pocket they would run you off.

I asked one of their bosses what plans did they have to protect us if someone decided to do us harm

The boss didn’t have an answer.

I think that the idea doesn’t even occur to them

I worked for the United States Navy at a recruiting HQ for my shore duty assignment. We were warned that we were considered ‘soft targets’ according to the chatter the FBI passed along.

When we requested to let specific people carry arms, we were laughed at. We carried them into our Federal Office building every single day anyway. The Chattanooga shooting proved we were right to do that.
