I’ve never been to the British Virgin Islands. I’ve been to Puerto Rico, which was nice, but with all of the bars on the windows, it seemed likely that there was a problem with theft. However, it was beautiful and the people were very nice.

That is a good clue right there. I always look for that on the HGTV show House Hunters International. IF the locals have bars on the windows, it is not a place I a want to live or visit.
I remember my one and only(LAST) trip to Mexico. We went to Playa del Carman. Next door to the hotel was a beach house. It had a 8+ foot tall cinder block wall around it. On the ocean/water view side it had a chain link fence. On the top of the chain link fence was barb wire. On the top of the wall were glass bottles mortared into the top of the wall and then broken off. I still refer to that trip as the vacation from H#LL.
