I had a decade of experience there including an engagement to an heiress to Desnoes and Geddes (Red Stripe beer etc....largest bottlers and distillers in the Caribbean)
Jamaican county people in particular are very kind
There are urban criminal elements and gunmen but they don’t hate Americans they just want to rob you
The political violence there between PNP and JLP was dangerous though

For Orlando type Americans I agree though Jamaica is probably not best for them
Caymans or St Johns or Turks and Caicos
The Dominican Republic is not that bad at least not to me
I worked and existed in the worlds worst spots in my day....far worse then the Dom Rep
Africans in general, don't like American blacks. I have friends from Nigeria that can't stand them. Can't understand how anyone who is born in this country could possibly despise it so much, when millions literally risk their lives to come here.

I don’t think you should be forgiven for defending L.A. these days. Our mayor has turned this big beautiful city into a shrine for Sacred Homeless and Sacred Illegals.
This young man was a pool side server. He treated us well and vice versa. Very polite young man and we made conversation back and forth with him through out the week were there and got to know him. He had a gold cross necklace on and we mentioned that when coming back from Margaritaville there were many funerals and many Christian churches. He said yes, lot of Jamaicans are Christian, like myself and that proceeded to talk of the orphanages, etc.
We enjoy talking to the workers while vacationing. From the housekeepers to the gardeners to the servers. We have visited the schools and the orphanages. I myself was in an orphanage at 4 until 5 (my sister too) until our grandparents adopted us.

Letting my guard down how? This man didn’t get anything from us except payment for our tour. He works at the resort, for the resort.
Our first trip to Jamaica we went with a group and we visited the many orphanages and there are so many Christian churches in the parishes that we passed in 1.5 hour drive. I suppose you don’t believe there are Christians and Christian churches in Africa either. The resort we stayed at this time had a Catholic church next door and they posted the information on the bulletin board at resort.
Our driver (who worked at resort) stayed with us wherever we went and was very protective of us. From lunch to shopping to the tour of Fort Charlotte and back to resort. He also talked about the politics of Jamaica, the corruptness of government, etc.
There is a difference in being a sucker vs getting to know the history, culture of a foreign country you are visiting.
Actually, I have many Christian friends from Ghana and Kenya, both here and in Kenya, and I have traveled many parts of the world. Go ahead, believe that nothing bad can ever happen to you, that all Christians the world over are just like the ones you grew up with in America, and that no one will ever pose as a nice guy in order to take advantage of you. I’m not stopping you.
What is your issue? Show me in any of my posts where I said I don’t believe that nothing bad will happen to me and that I swoon over and get suckered in to letting some nice guy in Jamaica take advantage of me. My church actually has missionaries in Jamaica. You seem incapable of believing that there are good people in Jamaica who go to work every day and just happen to be Christian as well. Husband and I were there for our 35th anniversary not for some love fest with a Jamaican pool boy.
Yeah you claim to have christian friends in Ghana and Kenya, kinda like a white person who says “Oh yeah, I have a black friend too”.
