Very scary....Almora was understandibly shaken....as was the entire stadium.
Couple of years ago, there was an incident in a Phillies home game. The Phillies had a runner on first, and a left-handed batter at the plate. The baserunner overcommitted in his secondary lead, and the catcher fired an accurate throw to the first baseman. That was seen very clearly by the catcher, of course, and by the baserunner (I believe it was the Philliess backup catcher). It was not seen by the first baseman - nor by very many others in the stadium FTM. For the reason that the left-handed batter had lost his hold on the bat, which flew straight into an occupied area of the first-base side seats. The first baseman, and most of the rest of the occupants of the stadium, were transfixed by that vision. The baserunner saw only that he was being picked off - except that the first baseman didnt catch the ball, which rolled down the fair line to the wall. Given what he saw, his natural reaction was to say, feet, do your duty - and circle the bases.
He scored a run, and it counted. What else could anyone do?
