Im wondering how having a live animal trumps an allergy to those animals by any number of other passengers.
But maybe that was emotionally pleasing to the owner of the dog. So maybe the dog was doing the right thing.
and trophies for everyone!
My emotional support animal is a honey badger.
One of the reasons I carry a pocket folder knife is in case I have to deal with a dog attack. Clearly that wouldn’t help in this case, where I wouldn’t have my knife.

heathen animals
The police report listed the dogs owner, Ronald Kevin Mundy Jr. of Mills River, N.C.,
as a military service member with the U.S. Marine Corps who advised that the dog
was issued to him for support. The dog is listed in the police report as a chocolate
lab pointer mix.
According to the lawsuit, Mundy, seated in the middle seat of Row 31, held his
dog on his lap. The animal was so large it encroached into the aisle seat
and window seat, the complaint says.

Delta and others have problems and some insurance will pay. Sorry for the person
attacked and hope he can put this behind him as life goes on.

I have a friend that works the desk at a major airline and almost on a daily basis someone tries to bring a pet and call it an emotional support animal. She has learned to identify the Internet prescriptions from “medical professionals” that will write these without ever having seen the patient. There is a mountain of fraud within the emotional support animal phenomenon.
I agree. Some years ago, like up through the mid 90’s, one had to have a valor award, a purple heart, or at least a CIB or Navy/Marine Corps combat action ribbon to even be considered for PTSD. Now I am not saying helicopter pilots and crew did not see serious action as did others. My point is we have men and women who were never even in a combat zone drawing VA disability for PTSD. A retired Major or LTC who was MI in Berlin draws VA disability as he fears the KGB will kill him. This PTSD has gone whacko. Dogs and cats make great pals. They do not belong on planes or in public unless to help the blind.
Can you fly with an Emotional Support Glock?
They don’t bite.
Phew. I’m glad the man didn’t say: “eenie meenie meinie moe, take your seats we gotta go!”
This is yet another case for banning “comfort” animals. If you can’t fly without a pet, you either need drugs or another mode of transport.
I would cram my fingers down the throat of that dog as far as possible, then form a fist until it died.
We were at a restaurant this last weekend, sitting with our dog in the outdoor seating area. As we were leaving, a couple walked out of the inside area with a German Shepherd that had a service dog cape on. The service dog lunged and snapped at our puppy, and the owner had to scold and yank it back repeatedly.
This was obviously no service dog.
There really needs to be a crackdown on this crap. Its completely out of control now. I see this more often than ever, from restaurants to airports to grocery stores and more.

Mine is a well marbled ribeye steak cooked to perfection.

Mix is the key word as it is Pit bulls that have been banned. Not labs and not pointers.
It is an abuse of the mental health accommodation laws.
They found that autistic kids often did better with service dogs akin to a seeing eye dog. Let the kid have a trained service animal so they can stay within behavioral norms ... if nervous, pet the dog.
It was quickly adopted for those with PTSD and high anxiety. Take the pet and use it as a distraction and source of emotional support on an airplane.
Now it is readily abused. Buy vests for “service animals” online with a doctor’s note bought for $30 from a doc in another state who signs off on all requests.
You can now take Fifi the Poodle and Fido the 50 pound mastiff into the store and claim you must have it as a disability accommodation. The actual law says “must be allowed to have it live with you in a dorm, public housing or a federal housing program paid unit” ... but the fake mentally ill will threaten the ADA lawsuits if you don’t let them take 3 poodles into the store in the shopping cart because she - needs - it.
Then you get the more egregious abuses. Big aggressive dogs, untrained pets that nip at trained service animals for the actual disabled.

I understand your concerns, however, working with military people who have to fish body parts out of the ocean for weeks on end after plane crashes, and clean up all sorts of human wreckage, I have seen PTSD with them.
Actually since these experiences, I have come to believe that the costs of finding out exactly what happened is counter prodctive for it makes for so many more victims.
