Oh. I thought Charter Schools were usually privately owned and run institutions, most built around a specific core belief or approach to education. I could be way off.
I do know, most teacher’s unions seem to hate the very idea of Charter Schools with the heat of a thousand Suns.

Not quite. Charter schools are public schools, usually under the public school district they're located in. However, they're run and staffed by a nonprofit, so of course they rarely use union teachers. That's why the unions hate them. Charter schools usually have a specific focus, or try different teaching methods, as they're exempt from many of the requirements of regular public schools. They're designed to be more of a small-scale expiriment before the whole district makes changes to policy or structure.
