People forget that Buckner played better injured than a lot of people do playing uninjured. His 1986 RBI stats alone were a key reason why the Red Sox were even in the World Series. A lot of players today will sit a game out if they have a hangnail. Buckner was not one of those.
He had a great career and an even better post player career, moving to Idaho where he owned commercial properties and three car dealerships in the Boise area.
