The year was 1924 and I believe the consensus in the mountain climbing community is they did not make it. The body of Mallory was found 20 years ago but the body of his companion, Andrew Irvine, was not. Irvine was carrying at least one camera and should his body be found perhaps the film in one of the cameras survived and we'll know if they did or did not make it.
