I’m in the mouth of the York River (Sarah’s creek) in a nice sheltered creek. https://yorkriveryachthaven.com/
Buy you a beer if you find yourself in the neighborhood.
LMAO!
I knew that one was coming!
Too soon?
In fact, after years of boating on the Great Lakes, we were on the water barely a handful of times after dark and mistakes are easily made, even with great equipment.

Great equipment is a wonderful thing but it can also give one a misplaced sense of confidence. I had great electronics but like with any tool, its use is enhanced with experience and judgement.
Speak for yourself, fellow FReeper. :)
We just need bigger boats.
That is the plan, anyway:)
Well, a couple of times a year it becomes necessary to give some millennial a lesson in the short comings of a modern Chinese outboard compared to a small block Chevy 350, but other than that, safety always comes 1st.
:)
a small block Chevy 350

A great engine for sure. Another great block was the marinized 454, albeit a very thirsty engine. I put a lot of hours on both.
We just got back from the Bahamas. Were in Savannah right now. Heading for the Chesapeake, then to Maine. Then head south again.
What engine do you have? Have you bleed the injectors?
The sound, alone, of a big block 454 makes it the fastest boat on the lake.
We follow the list.
What list?
Was it called The Money Pit ?
We were a little compromised on our way to the Georgian Bay still had electronics but thanks to a sixteen week Power Squadron class, a must,
we did a dead reckoning every thirty minutes, just to be safe. We were limping on one transmission and all was good, but if we lost the other one, then it becomes interesting. That is what we learned, redundancy.
Diesel???
GET OUT YOUR FIRE EXTINGUISHER(S) AND HAVE SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO USE IT STANDING NEAR. Just Incase.
Loosen the ?nut? On the Fuel Line but DO NOT take the line off the Injectors.
Crank the engine untill You get Fuel at each one, tightening the nuts as Fuel starts to spray continuously until All are bled out and tightened back down.
Or try some Starting Fluid in Short Bursts in the Intake whike cranking the engine.
Make sure you are licensed. DeplorableAmerican had us take boating course.
A good list of tips but I have never seen Tip #7 actually obeyed. Beer and boating appear to go together like hot dogs and baseball.
No need. We just had the mechanic out and all SEEMS well. He fired up the Yanmar and it purred like a kitten. Did need a new belt (which we had) and we made a good friend/mechanic to add to the list.
Trying to decide when it’s time to go to the pool at this point.
Which Savannah Marina? Isle of Hope was our home for 4 years before we left. We MAY be stopping later in the week. We still want to add some more solar and finish installing our watermaker. It will either be here or there.
