President and Mrs. Trump met with Japan’s new Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako today making President Trump the first world leader to meet Japan’s new Emperor. As part of the formal welcoming there was an exchange of gifts. Trump’s gift for Emperor Naruhito was an American-made viola in a custom case handmade in Charleston, West Virginia, and a photo of U.S. composer Aaron Copland.
Lest you wonder too long over Trump’s choice of gifts, Emperor Naruhito is an avid violist.
