Gardening is the best therapy. For years we had a great garden. This is my 4th year without one. I miss it. Maybe next year I will feel up to planting. I have some beautiful flowers blooming right now. A gorgeous purple Rhododendron, pink hydrangea and red and pink azaleas. The yellow Iris are about to pop along with red peonies.
Maybe next year I’ll do a small garden. My problem is planting too much!

Why sunflowers?

Where I grew up the farmers would plant corn one year & the next year beans to replenish the nitrogen in the soil. They would rotate every year. Well one year there must have been some study or something because a bunch of them planted sunflowers. For about the next 3 years the sunflowers would keep popping up & cutting out sunflowers while walking beans was a lot harder than regular weeds. They never planted sunflowers again.
