I doubt he was shocked at all. It hadn’t been all that long and I imagine those hiding throughout S America and beyond were aware of efforts to nab them, especially since former Nazis were proving useful to various regimes for their military/intelligence expertise, and many we’re wired in with South American intelligence services.
