Hope this works. Overwhelming construction - must have taken millions of workers.
“Very few autos!!!! “
Meant for supporting military traffic?
I don’t give shlt about happens inside of a Communist country. F them.
Exactly what I thought... but then if you’re a Communist country, who has the money to own a car? Is private property even allowed.
That’s why the roadway system seems so strange. No one will be using it... and of course it’s accomplished by a labor force likely paid about nothing...like slaves.
There’s no union, because the state IS the union. Funny how that works out.
We’re doomed also.
The narrator, who is obviously English, refers to the highways as “motorways.” In England, a motorway is a freeway. In Southern California, “motorway” is a designation given to some dirt roads, mostly in the hills.
And no road leads to freedom
An A-10 can make a mess of all that roadway real quick.

Have to wonder how many regular Chinese have autos?
It’s impressive, until you realize that culturally, officials accept bribes to pass shoddy work. Companies skim funds off vital elements; remember the Chinese apartment high-rises that simply fell over because they had no foundations? All it took was a hard rain. Wait until they have an earthquake. Then there is maintenance. A Youtuber explained the Chinese concept of mechanical things. He said, “My mother-in-law has never had the oil changed in her car. That’s just the way the Chinese see things.”
They are building this infrastructure, not because they need it, but to keep people employed. It is not an efficient way to run an economy. There was a Russian plant building Model T trucks into the fifties. But because they were such an embarrassment, they went straight from the plant to the crusher for recycling. The reason was to keep the workers employed.
Wow.......Do you suppose those aerial videos were taken by drones?
We were there a few years ago and there was building all over the place but our guide explained it was for show they have no tenants.
“Look ma, no traffic jam!”
“That’s because most people can’t afford cars Jimmy.”
Which is not a bad thing, but it is a thing about communism some people would find disturbing.
Me? I prefer 100% automation and a greatly reduced population and the freedom to walk in the countryside and plant apple seeds and play my banjo to the birds and the bees...
You're kidding, right? China is the largest automobile market in the world, ahead of both Europe and the U.S.
We were doomed. Tat is how they paid for all of this, with US dollars in trade imbalance. Now, with Trump fair trade, their development will come to a screeching halt.
About a third of the country has wealth now, due to the technology boom.
Its an odd duck for a communist country. Some people do accumulate money; the ones who have it are obsessed with *stuff*; status symbols, especially Western designer labels.
Many Chinese even celebrate Christmas. Its entirely secular, of course. Its about Santa, trees, decorations, and gifts.
Hey, the Nazis had pretty good roadways too, I hear.
Do private citizens have that kind of affluence?
I thought they couldn’t have personal wealth
I mean, I know all that is relaxed these days, but still it ain’t like a real Capitalist country
Empty ghost cites and unused highways to nowhere.....
